President Scott Pegau called the meeting to order, with board members, station staff, and several community members in attendance at the at the Valdez Senior Center and via Zoom.
This year brought significant challenges and accomplishments for the station, including loss of the AM tower, transition to FM 91.3 service in Valdez, loss of CPB funding, multiple board resignations, and a change in accounting firms. The search for a new General Manager is still underway.
Members certified the 2025 election results, with Dennis Humphrey, Donna Lane, and Janis Johnson elected to three-year terms, John Anderson to a two-year term, and James Smith and Mason Mullen elected to one-year terms.
The Board elected new officers:
- President: James Smith
- Vice-President: Dennis Humphrey
- Secretary-Treasurer: Nikki Newcome
Director of Programming and Operations James Devens reported strong progress in finances and operations, including increased donations, reduced accounting costs, expanded underwriting, and new syndicated programming. KCHU also received over $20,000 from Voices of Alaska to help offset lost CPB funds. Several technical upgrades and repairs are underway or planned.
The next Board meeting is scheduled for December 8, 2025, at 6:30 p.m.
