Quickstart

Overview

The KCHU website is managed through the WordPress content management system. If you are a designated web manager and have experience working with WordPress and visual pagebuilders like Divi or Elementor, you can request a user account from the website developer.

Logging In

Go to the WordPress login page to log into the site using the username or email you’ve been assigned. If you need to reset your password, use the Lost Password link.

Public Documents

The Public Files page uses a forms system for document entry and editing. If you regularly update the Public Files list, please request a user account from the site administrator.

To add files, do the following:

  • Log into the site
  • Go to Public Files Entry and use the password Valdez99686.
  • Add a file name. (Keep format consistent: i.e. “Minutes 06-2024”
  • Chose one of the three categories (This helps populate three different lists)
  • Drag the file into the File field or add a URL
  • Add the year, which helps establish list order.
  • Submit (You’ll be prompted to enter another file, if you’d like.)

If you need to change or update a listing, do the following:

  • Log into the site
  • Go to Forms in the Dashboard
  • Hover over Public Files to access the Entries link
  • Use the navigation controls and search field to find the file you need to edit
  • Hover over the file name to access the Edit link and open the individual form entry
  • Make the changes you need. You can change the file name, category, and year. If you need to change the File itself, you’ll need to delete the original.
  • Press the blue Update button to save your entry.

Divi Pages

The website uses the Divi page builder system, which combines content fields with style and code injection. We highly recommend you do not attempt to edit pages on the site until you have familiarized yourself with the features of Divi.

Divi pages include:

  • Home
  • About
  • Underwriting
  • Contact
  • Become a Member

If you need to make a quick change, do the following:

  1. Log into the site
  2. Go to the page you’d like to edit
  3. Select Enable Visual Builder from the top admin bar
  4. Click on the text you’d like to change
  5. Make the edit
  6. Either expand the three-dot menu at the bottom to access the save button OR Exit Visual Builder to save the page.

Divi also handles colors, padding, margins, photos, and user interface items. Please do not attempt changes unless you have experience working with Divi.

Schedule

The station schedule is built with a model called Tablemaker, which requires developers to work with CSS code and shortcodes. An experienced web designer will be able to edit text within these code tags, but we advise you put in a change request.

To edit the schedule, do the following:

  1. Log into the site
  2. Navigate to the Schedule page
  3. Click on the Table Maker module to activate the control.
  4. Click on the gear icon to access the module settings.
  5. Find the first instance of the column where the text you need to edit appears
  6. Edit the exact text without deleting the XML code around it or any of the line breaks between the code blocks.
  7. Close the Table Maker module
  8. Exit Visual Builder to save the changes

Again, Table Maker is a beautiful design system but a clunky content entry system. If you’re not confident making changes, submit change requests to the website developer.
